The green bean casserole is one of my favourite holiday side dishes but oven space and time is at a premium so I decided to come up with a stove top version. For the big Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner you are going to be

Put drained beans in casserole. In saucepan put 2 tablespoons butter with flour, salt, sugar, onion and cook 5 minutes or until mixture becomes paste. Remove from heat, add sour cream and grated cheese. Mix well and pour over beans.
